Tell us about your job as a Creative Director and the path that brought you here.

I have been at TJMaxx as CD for 11 years. It has been a fun and wild ride. When I first started I had come from the ad agency world, Arnold and Digitas where I had worked on a wide variety of brands - Royal Caribbean, Target, American Express, GM to name a few. This was my first in–house role. I loved TJMaxx , and had literally grown up with the brand (the first TJMaxx opened in my hometown) Getting used to the corporate culture was a challenge. I learned so much about fashion and retail quickly, and had some great mentors along the way.

What was a pivotal moment for your career?

I have had many pivotal moments, but when I look back it is more like pivotal people. My coworkers, clients and mentors over the years have taught me so many invaluable lessons. I have a great well of gratitude for all of them.

What has been your favorite set to work on? Why?

I love being on set for shoots. After all the weeks and months of planning, there is always an element of chaos involved on the actual shoot days. In this chaos is the magic - the creativity that everyone on the team brings to the set.]

What is one of your proudest moments in your career?

Working on a shoot for Mother Caroline Academy in Boston. We did a beautiful black and white shoot for their annual report - portraits of middle school girls. The nuns that started this school for low income children of immigrants were my heroes - truly selfless human beings, dedicated to helping others.

What are some other things you enjoy when you aren't working?

We have a small cabin up in rural Vermont where we hike, kayak and bike ride, and take lots of iPhone photos of vegetables and goats.

What is your favorite part about being on set?

I love spending time with a group of top notch creative thinkers, and creating images together. It is intense, exciting and so fulfilling.

What is one thing your fans may not know about you?

I am addicted to playing Pokemon Go with my 13 year old son. I just hit level 23!

What advice can you provide for future Creative Directors?

Go to medical school! Just joking. Make sure you love it and it is your passion. Then everyday will feel like fun, not work!
