Meet Stylist & Designer Maria Gamez

If you have ever witnessed a Flamenco dancer perform, you can imagine the beauty, power, and grace it requires to complete a routine perfectly. This is Maria Gamez, strong, beautiful and full of fire. Born and raised in Cordoba, Spain, Maria is not only an established Flamenco dancer, but an incredible fashion stylist, clothing designer and mother. Pretty incredible! Dynamic, well rounded and super talented...our kind of woman! Maria nurtured her craft in Spain, but then moved to the states at a young age to reside in both Los Angeles and New York. She now lives in Ft. Worth, Texas with her husband and son, where she owns and designs for Zollie & Co. When she isn't designing, she is styling for brands like Core Power, Time Magazine, Neiman Marcus, and JC Penney to name a few. We were so excited to sit with Maria and learn more about the story behind this talented stylist from Spain now Texan....

WHAT WAS A PIVOTAL MOMENT FOR YOUR CAREER?

Perhaps a pivotal moment was the move from LA to Dallas, a few years ago. To come to a new city and start all over was hard but I have an incredible agency that believed in me. Now I look back and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What has been your favorite set to work on? Why?

Just last year I met this young girl named Simon Biles and although I do not follow gymnastics her aura was incredible. She, as tiny as she is, filled that huge gym that we were shooting in. Not only is she an amazing Olympian but also an inspiration.

What is one of your proudest moments in your career?

As a wardrobe stylist I get to work with all kind of super interesting people but I think the moment I realized I was living my dream was during a shoot with President Clinton and President George W Bush for Time magazine.

What are some other things you enjoy when you aren’t shooting?

I love to travel and to entertain. But my passion is designing for my kids clothing line: Zollie & Co.

What is your favorite part about being on set?

I really enjoy being part of a team and my co-workers become my really good friends.  I guess I’m super fortunate to work with the people I also like to hang out with ;-)

WHAT DOES #CREATEMOMENTS MEAN TO YOU?

#createmoments means that even when lots of physical time may have passed I remember that day like yesterday. If I were to lose everything I own tomorrow I still have those moments.

What is one thing your fans may not know about you?

Hold on, I have fans??? What other people may not know about me is that I’m very soft inside. I may look super strong to most people, but looks can be deceiving
